Preventing ingrown hairs, breakouts, or other reactions is accomplished by properly caring for the waxed area after treatment. This can be done with various techniques and products that I will tell you about in this article. These are things that I recommend as a professional to my clients and anyone that asks.

I have personally tried both of these products and apply these methods in my own personal hygiene routine.

This is my go to product for aftercare when removing hair in any way for me. I recommend wetting a cotton pad or cotton ball and squeezing the excess water out. Apply the tend to the cotton and use it to apply the product to the waxed area. I must warn you that this does have a little sting that comes with it, however it is tolerable. The linked product here is a 4oz bottle, they also have it in 8oz, 16oz, and a refillable roll on version of it. Like I said it can be applied anywhere, bikini, chin, underarm, etc. If you do have ingrowns it will make any puss present dry up and the hair will come to the surface so that you can remove it from beneath the skin without fully pulling the hair out. This product plus an exfoliating glove will be your post hair removal bff.

I recommend using it after the wax up until the point that the hair has grown back, you don't really need it once the hairs have all come through. This product can be drying so I definitely suggest moisturizing the skin with something light after the application. Get you some and have it on hand. It is wonderful for men that are having trouble with ingrowns in their beard, excellent for post bikini waxing to prevent ingrowns, and it can be used if there is an ingrown already present that you want gone.

I ran out of Tend solution and decided to give this product a try. I grabbed it from my local walmart, however you can also order it from amazon using my link here. I am currently using it for ingrown hair treatment and prevention post Brazilian wax and also along my jaw line and chin in the areas that I wax.

I must admit that it does work! I was not looking to compare whether it works faster than Tend so I didn't track that but I do know that it works just as well. I use it the next day after a wax and I keep using it until I feel like most of the hairs have come through the skin.

I do not like that I have to dip my finger in it because I prefer not to have something like this on my hand and dipping fingers in jars is unsanitary. I personally like the method of application used with Tend since it's on cotton and not on my hand. Because this is a cream it also needs to be rubbed in so please apply slowly and carefully. You do not want to rub it in the wrong places in the bikini area if you catch my drift ladies. I feel that because it is a cream it is not as drying as the Tend and I also must note here that this cream does have a tea tree kind of smell.

One of the last and important tips is to exfoliate your body 1-2x weekly using an exfoliating glove. I know, I know, a lot of you think 1-2x a week isn't enough or that you need to scrub really hard and that is just not the case. Gently exfoliate and do it consistently and you will have the results that you would like.

Make sure that after you exfoliate, you apply a nice nourishing body moisturizer and facial moisturizer, applying the product while the skin is slightly damp. I also recommend that you do your exfoliating in the shower at night to give your skin time to absorb the healing ingredients you apply and recover before sun exposure. Exfoliating is not just for ingrown hairs either. It is recommended for everyone to assist with keeping your cell metabolism stimulated (because it naturally slows down as we age), it increases product absorption, and removes dead leaving the skin soft, supple, and smoother.
